Shurtleff Family Camping 2009

So once a year Brett's whole family gets together to go camping. We went to Badin Lake in NC. It was a very pretty area and was nice to get away for a few days. But I think for future trips we have all decided to go late summer early fall. It was just too hot. In the 90's with major humidity. Kaiya had a hard time with naps and just wouldn't eat much in that heat. The Second night we were there, there was a huge severe thunderstorm that came through. After getting everything covered up we got in our tents. I have never heard thunder so loud and so close. Something hit our tent and shock Brett and I up pretty bad. But right after we heard a huge crack and his Mom screaming for help. I have never seen Brett jump up so fast and through on shorts. A limb had fallen from a tree and had them trapped in their tent and Brett's Dad pinned down. After Brett, Becky ( who is 8 months Pregnant) and his brother in law Darren got them limbs off they got in their car. Brett came back and Got Kaiya and I decided we would be waiting the storm out in the car. Needless to say the next day we packed up and headed home. But it was good to hang out with family for a few days at least.

A little more adventure than I think any one would want. Those are some pretty pictures you took of the sun set. Hopefully next years camping trip will be a better one. You could always go camping with us? :0)

Sounds like the scariest camping trip I've ever heard of. You guys always have some sort of adventure to report on. Praise the Lord everyone came home okay.
